[Notes on Participation]

  • The number of sessions given to one team is two sessions if participating only in the English section or four sessions if participating in both the English and Japanese sections. Thus, the number of oralists per team is two to four (if participating only in the English section) or two to eight (if participating in both the English and Japanese sections). Students other than oralists are welcome to come to obeserve the sessions and support the oralists of the team. ONLY for administrative purpose, we will ask to submit a list of all team members (including members other than oralists).
  • Teams have to submit the memorandum for Claimant by December 20 (Wed), 2023 and the memorandum for Respondent by January 31 (Wed), 2024. The memorandum for Respondent should be prepared without exchanging the memoranda for Claimant with the opposing team. For teams participating in both English and Japanese sections, it is sufficient to submit the memoranda in English instead of submitting both the memoranda in English and in Japanese.
  • Submitted memoranda are be kept in strict confidence. None of the team members or coaches or other similar individuals are involved in the storage of memoranda. The memoranda will be distributed to the arbitrators for oral hearings (the timing will be after the deadline for submission of the respondent's memorandum to the Vis Moot) and will be exchanged with the opposing teams approximately one week before the day of the sessions.
  • In principle, teams participating in the 17th Vis Japan have practice sessions with each other. However, after the sessions of the 17th Vis Japan are announced (scheduled approximately one week before the date of the sessions), teams may not have practice sessions with the opposing teams nor observe practice sessions in which the opposing teams participate.
  • The Japan Pre-moot Committee and the AIBT DO NOT support you in obtaining a visa to come to Japan. Also, accommodation is NOT provided.
